Tinnitus remains one of the most challenging auditory disorders for many clinicians and their patients. However, when tinnitus is properly understood and evaluated, it is a very manageable condition. This lecture will discuss a variety of topics including the impact of bothersome tinnitus on mental health of adults and children with tinnitus. We will review the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy, and application of tinnitus management strategies implemented by audiologists such as counseling, amplification and sound therapy. Important points will be highlighted with case presentations.
